However, the Dutch left-back opted to remain at Stamford Bridge and vowed to fight for his place. However, he failed to impress Pochettino in training and despite injuries to Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, he did not get ample playing time.
Maatsen will hope to revive his sinking career at Signal Iduna Park under Edin Terzic where he might be paired up with Sancho on the left flank. The duo can be seen in action on Saturday against Darmstadt in the Bundesliga.
